Last year, our Credit Support Coordinator April Downey collected purses and personal care/hygiene donations to fill them for The Purse Project Network Niagara. The Purse Project runs every November and the goal is to collect as many new or gently used purses filled with personal care items for women in need ahead of the holiday season. April was able to fill 20 purses last year, which were then distributed across Niagara to places like The Hope Centre, Gillian’s Place and Community Care of West Niagara.
This year, April and the PenFi Family are back at it and we have 60 purses to fill, and need your help! We will be running a donation drive until November 15th to fill the purses April has sourced. Each purse must contain the 10 items listed below, and the items must be new. If you’re able to purchase an item or two to help us fill the purses, you can drop off your donation at any of our branches up until November 15th. We are very excited that the program has been extended to Dunnville this year, and our Dunnville branch is proud to be a donation drop off point. So many of us can take these basic personal care items for granted, but they mean so much to those who are struggling and need extra support in our community.
Thank you April for taking the lead on this important community initiative and we can’t wait to achieve our goal of filling 60 purses!
