The difficult decision has been made to close Pleasantview Cemetery over Mother’s Day Weekend. It will be closed on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th, 2020, and reopening the following Monday. This was a particularly hard decision. We’re acutely aware of how much our families want to be able to visit over this weekend.
The unfortunate reality is that with the number of people we anticipate coming to our cemetery, we cannot guarantee safely maintaining physical distancing, even with extra security and staff on-hand.
This will be a hard day for many people. Even if you cannot be physically together, you are encouraged to connect with those who knew your mother or a loved one who you want to remember with a phone call or video messaging. Share some stories and cherished memories together. Consider reading a passage from a book she loved, preparing her favourite meal or simply giving yourself some quiet time to reflect, honour, and remember.
Please note that this decision is based on current COVID-19 government mandates for physical distancing and regulatory requirements. Should these change, we will revisit the closures. As before, our on-site funeral home will remain open during the Mother’s Day Weekend.
Please stay healthy and safe. We look forward to the time when we can gather together to remember safely and openly.
