Pelham Seniors’ Advisory Committee

The Town of Pelham is designated as a member of the WHO (World Health Organization) Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

The Pelham Seniors' Advisory Committee (PSAC) is an advisory committee created to assist the Town of Pelham Council and staff in making decisions on matters that impact quality of life and provide solutions through the lens of Pelham's senior residents.

The committee was formed in 2013 as a volunteer committee.

The Committee reports directly to Town Council via minutes of its meetings, presentations as requested and/or deemed necessary, and provides an annual report to Town Council.

Objectives:

1. To promote awareness of the needs of Pelham Seniors to residents, to local agencies, businesses and community schools.
2. To encourage the Town and the community to view policies, projects and programs with an Age-Friendly perspective.
3. To engage all sectors of the Community such as service clubs, businesses, arts and cultural organizations in developing policies and programs to meet the needs of Pelham's seniors.
4. To solicit input and act as a public forum for issues that affect seniors in the Community.
5. To develop and foster a coordinated approach between the Town, its citizens, service providers and community organizations to make the Town of Pelham an inclusive age-friendly Community.
6. To monitor funding opportunities for age-friendly initiatives and programs and encourage the Town or other eligible agencies to apply for this funding and provide input on funding applications.
7. To foster and form partnerships with Regional organizations, Provincial agencies, Educational and Arts and Culture Organizations to promote an age-friendly community.
8. To serve as a Champion for the community by developing a vision, gathering momentum and encouraging action.
