As our community and country works together to contain the COVID-19 virus, the Library has had to close its doors. But, we’re moving even more of our operations online and we are here to support you in connecting with each other, staying entertained, and yes – even learning!
Pelham Public Library is doing all sorts of things to help keep the public both informed and entertained during this difficult time. We have been creating new memberships for those who may not have had one, and renewing expired memberships so that they can take advantage of some of our e-resources, including e-books, e-audiobooks, e- magazines, and streaming services of television shows and movies [Hoopla, Overdrive, and RB Digital.] We have increased our number of monthly Hoopla from 4 to 10 per member during this closure period. And, for those who might not be familiar or comfortable with using digital resources, Pelham Public Library has a “virtual desk” staffed by trained librarians during our normal working hours, on hand to answer questions via email or social media.
We are hard at work hunting down the best digital experiences and resources for kids and adults who are at home and looking for free and interesting things to do. These great finds will be made available on our website and on our social media like Facebook and Twitter. We will have lots for kids to do online while our schools are closed, so parents should check out these new additions to our website in the coming weeks.
We have added a virtual book club on our Facebook page and the book choices will be titles that are available in e-book and e-audiobook formats on Hoopla. Need a book recommendation, Pelham Public Library will connect you with your next great read. Email Brynley at beckhart@pelhamlibrary.on.ca for this service.
We are always coming up with ideas to serve our residents, and we are eager to hear from our patrons here in Pelham about what they’re looking for as they do their part and take part in physical distancing. We are here to help you find the information you need, and help you stay entertained. Most of all, we look forward to remaining an important part of your daily life here in Pelham, welcoming you back through our doors in the months ahead.
Know that during this challenging time for our community, the Library is right there with you. We’re in this together. #StayInsideStaySafe #TogetherApart #PlankTheCurve For more information about accessing any of our resources, or to be connected with one of our staff, please email admin@pelhamlibrary.on.ca.
