Maclean’s has released their top picks for 2021 in an exclusive new ranking of the best places to live in the country. This ranking takes into account that more people are able to work and study from home. Welland ranked 15th.
Maclean’s partnered with Environics Analytics to provide a significant amount of data about each community and the Canadian Internet Registration Authority was able to extract data from its Internet Performance Test Program.
“I am delighted the City of Welland ranked 15th in the nation among the top 25 communities to live and work remotely. This confirms Welland offers a high quality of life to our residents who live and work here,” said Mayor Frank Campion. “We excel in amenities. It is one of the reasons people come here, there are parks and trails across the city for residents and visitors.”
With several new subdivisions being constructed, Mayor Campion continued, “People are coming to the city, which is good for the local economy. It is conducive for people working from home. People from other areas can move to the city and not have to worry about commuting if their job allows working from home.”
