Welland Native Barbara Avon (née Buccilli) has won the award for Horror Book of the Year at the Feed My Reads Awards 2022.
The Awards are voted on by the public with over 2,000 votes being placed during the voting window.
Avon won the Award for her book “Revived”, a psychological horror in the spirit of “Flatliners”, the 1990 movie by Joel Schumacher.
Avon said, “I’m immensely proud to have won this Award. The journey from having the original idea to seeing my book published, and credited is thrilling. Knowing people have read it and enjoyed it enough to vote is an incredible feeling. Thank you so much to everyone.”
Fraser Stoopman, founder of Feed My Reads, added, “I set up Feed My Reads a year ago to bring together a community where people could get to know authors through a series of interviews that go much further than just talking about their books. There have been nearly 100,000 hits on the website in the first year, which is astonishing when you think it started from scratch. The support from both readers and authors has been amazing.”
Fraser continued, “I’d like to congratulate all the nominees and winners on their success.”
