Whether they’re working selling homes in Niagara or connecting people to local businesses and happenings, this local real estate couple loves to live close to home.
Husband and wife team John Bosse and Cathy Berkhout-Bosse have rooted homeowners in the Niagara Region for over 30 years. As real estate professionals, they understand that to make a house a home happens when you immerse into neighbourhood and community you choose to live in.
As life-long Niagara residents and experienced REALTORS® they have navigated the market through multiple economic cycles. John and Cathy are individually recognized as top level producer awards throughout their career; including being Members of the Remax Hall of Fame.
“When you hire John and Cathy, you get John and Cathy. We enjoy helping our clients find their perfect place to live and work in Niagara,” says John, who spent his childhood in Chippawa and graduated from McMaster University with a degree in Physical Education.
Cathy graduated from the Richard Ivy School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. As a child she watched and learned the real estate business from her parents, local Realtors Ann and Gerry Berkhout.
John and Cathy met in high school when they were both members of the rowing crew at Notre Dame College School in Welland.
“We love living and working together in Niagara,” Cathy says. “We grew up here and raised our family here, we are honoured to guide our clients through critical life transitions and also have the opportunity to serve as local community ambassadors.
Find It Local in Niagara – Team BB puts their money where their Local is!
Cathy is the proud Co-Founder of myNiagara Online – a community platform aimed at engaging the local community to shop, live and play locally. Local networks include myPelham.com, myWelland.com, myNOTL.com and myNiagaraSouthCoast.com
This innovative marketing of the local community provides Team Berkhout Bosse with an incredibly deep understanding of their local marketplace and serves to attract potential out-of-Town Buyers who are researching a move to the Niagara area.
They proactively encourage all area residents to join one (or all four) of our community mailing lists to receive weekly updates with local news, upcoming events and special offers from local businesses.
“Let’s get behind our Local Businesses. It’s important that local Residents, Businesses and Community Organizations alike, support each other and together, do our part to shop locally,” says Berkhout-Bosse
Cathy follows in the footsteps of her late father, Gerry Berkhout who could always been found in the community lending a helping hand for a great cause. In 2016, Women in Niagara (WIN), a business council of the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) presented Cathy with the Community Spirit Award recognizing her work developing myNiagaraOnline.com.
Working for you 14 Days a Week in Coordinated Effort
Their clients appreciate the fact that Cathy and John work together as a team—both bringing unique qualities to their customer service experience.
“I see myself as a Real Estate Coach”, says John, “I work one-on-one with our clients – every step of the way providing attentive, personal service with lots of fun stories and great advice along the way.”
“My role is focused on the marketing side of our home selling services”, explains Cathy. “I work with Clients to prepare their homes to stand out on the market. From staging advice to fully customized multi-media campaigns; we give personalized service to every one of our clients”
The New Normal
Niagara’s current buoyant market conditions are being fuelled by a fierce competition for housing caused by a dramatic socio-economic trend that has arisen from the pandemic.
“People are living and working from home. This translates into more flexibility on where they can buy,” says Cathy. “They are leaving the big City in droves and relocating to smaller Towns to find more affordable housing and a slower pace of life.”
“We stay vigilant at all times to help our Clients to prepare for multiple offer situations while still making well thought out decisions despite the compressed time frames we are dealing with”, explains John. “After all, we’ve been doing this for over 30 years and have seen many cycles along the way”.
The couple anticipates the virtual home buying and selling practices will stay in place long past the pandemic for convenience and efficiency.
Currently they are using as many online tools as possible to prevent any unnecessary in-person meetings and provide safe alternatives for concerned homebuyers and sellers.
“The real estate industry has always been on the leading edge utilizing digital technology. In the past we have sold many properties to and for Out-of-Town clients using telecommunication only, now our systems have evolved to include local Clients as well”, says Cathy.
We Bring You Home
For John and Cathy, there’s no place they’d rather be than living the vibrant Niagara lifestyle. “We are Foodies through and through and love spending time a local Farmers Markets, discovering new favourite dishes at local restaurants and experiencing all the hospitality that Niagara Wine Country has to offer.” shares Cathy.
“Hiking our many local nature trails is our favourite way to relax and unwind,” adds John. “We love gathering with friends around our outdoor fire pit and from time-to-time Cathy and I still dig out our tent and go camping.”
They take the same down to earth approach to their real estate business. There’s nothing more important to John and Cathy than making sure clients feel valued and heard during every step of the process.
Team Berkhout Bosse is deeply committed to providing personalized, caring service to everyone their lives touch and helping our local communities thrive. After all, there really is no place like home.
