It’s that time again to introduce our newest featured artist, Karen Visentin! Karen’s art will be on display now until the first week of May at our gallery wall located at the Welland Civic Center.
“I am always excited when I have new ideas and perspectives. Whenever I open myself up, take a look around, and follow my heart, creative ideas find me. Being able to take those ideas and create with my hands and eyes is a gift that I treasure and wish to share. My hope as an artist is to stimulate thoughts and emotions from my point of view.
I thrive on working on several projects at once, so I continually paint with watercolors (my first love) while exploring new techniques and mediums. In warm weather, you may find me sketching outside at Chippewa Park or along the Welland Canal. For me, balancing my work, family, and painting is what life is about.
I was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and currently reside in Welland. I’m a graduate of the Visual Arts & Design program at Niagara College, and over the years I’ve participated in various art workshops within the Niagara Area.
My work has been displayed at the Pelham Art Festival, Rodman Hall, The Queenston Art Show, The Niagara Falls Art Gallery, Visual Artists of Welland Gallery Shop, and Welland Historical Museum. I am a member of the Pelham Art Association and the Visual Artists of Welland.
Many of my pieces on display are part of a painting process called Ink Resist. Using permanent India Ink, an image is produced that is similar to wood/lino cut. Most of these paintings are done on paper, adhered to board, sealed with a wax finish, and mounted in a handmade frame.
My paintings are on exhibit for your viewing pleasure, and some are for sale.”
We encourage you to take a moment to stop by and enjoy Karen’s work!
