Niagara Health is committed to providing safe, quality care in our Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centres. Today, we are expanding some of our COVID-19 protocols so that anyone coming to the Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre can bring one Support Person with them (previously this was available in exceptional circumstances only).
There are a number of infection prevention and control measures in place for everyone’s safety. Support Persons entering the hospital, including those who have been vaccinated, must pass COVID-19 screening, wear a mask at all times, practice physical distancing and hand hygiene while on site.
With more people inside the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centres, our waiting rooms will now be busier than they have been this past year. For anyone considering a visit, please know all the healthcare options available in the community.
- In non-emergency situations, your first option should be your family doctor or nurse practitioner. Call Telehealth 1-866-797-0000 for information and advice from a registered nurse.
- For medical emergencies call 9-1-1 immediately or go to the Emergency Department.
- For urgent treatment of minor injuries or illnesses, but not an emergency, please go to one of Niagara Health’s Urgent Care Centres. This includes treatment for nausea, sport injuries and sprains, ear, nose, throat and eye problems.
