Red Betty Theatre ‘Blackberry’ coming to Merritt Island, Welland this August 25 & 26 as part of In The Soil Festival summer series
August 26, 2022 @ 7:30 pm
Blackberry is a ghost story, a cautionary tale, and a family drama, it is a testament to the imagination of youth in the face of systemic oppression. The play examines the lingering stain of colonialism from the perspective of IBPOC youth. The young people at the heart of this story are made to live on the edge of danger, in a world that is stacked against them. Analogous to the social movements of 2020, Blackberry is a relevant, mysterious and hopeful piece of theatre that contributes a powerful message to the Defund the Police Movement.
