Since 1991, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore has been helping families in need of affordable housing across Canada by selling new or gently used home improvement items at great low prices – and this year it turns 30.
Niagara ReStores in Fonthill, Grimsby and St. Catharines are celebrating by holding a 3 day, 30th Anniversary Sale, giving customers 30% off their entire purchase July 8, 9 and 10th. Plus, when a customer spends $30 or more, they’ll get a coupon for a free car wash generously provided by Supreme Suds Niagara, and Saturday is customer appreciation day with a free barbeque from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at all Niagara ReStores.
The Habitat ReStore is a Canadian idea that started when five volunteers from Winnipeg, Manitoba thought of the social enterprise to generate funds to help build Habitat homes. Today, there are over 100 Habitat ReStores across Canada and more than 1,000 worldwide, all raising funds to enable more families to partner with Habitat and access affordable homeownership.
“Habitat ReStores play an integral part in our mission and bring financial support for our work,” explains Mark Carl, Habitat Niagara’s CEO. “Every ReStore is different and inventory is always changing. New items are donated by individuals and businesses daily, keeping these items out of the landfill and making shopping at the ReStore an environmentally conscious decision.”
Customers can expect to find items such as kitchens, windows, doors, paint, hardware, home décor, tools, lighting fixtures, furniture and appliances – anything you need to do your next home improvement project, at less than retail prices and you’ll never pay HST.
Every purchase creates the opportunity for a better life when you shop the ReStore – the store that builds homes.
