Most recently I was just in Alaska on the Ruby Princess Cruise and then flew to Jamaica to be at the opening for the brand new RIU Aquarelle!
Let’s begin with Alaska!
We did the inside passage which included stops to Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan.
All are easy enough to walk around the port.
Juneau, we actually just walked around the town and went to Red Dog Saloon and I don’t think it’s much different from its original opening, but so much fun!
Skagway we did the train excursion and I highly recommend it!! It was incredible! Our sunny green day turned into snow topped mountains, rickety bridges and a couple tunnels…what an experience!
Ketchikan we did a rainy walk through town and then did a wildlife excursion seeing eagles nests and whales!
The inside passage is calmer and the views from your balcony every morning is breathtaking!
Now Princess!
I love love love the medallion!! It’s the little things, but this little thing made life easier!
Embarkation was easier, and ordering coffee to your stateroom every morning to enjoy the view from your balcony was easier!
The food in the specialty restaurants was really good! Pizza at sea was yummy and nice to just grab while out watching your scenery change with every blink of your eyes
Movie under the stars, they give you blankets and popcorn, was magical 📽️🍿
The ship overall is a bit dated but they are not going to put a brand new ship amongst icebergs and logs in the water. This is typical and if you are going for the destination you won’t mind the datedness. I didn’t!
Jamaica!
Brand new resort RIU AQUARELLE.
All oceanviews, some partial.
Waterpark for kids.
Excellent buffet in morning.
Great specialty restaurants.
Beach is a little Shelly.
The beach doesn’t have a ton of shade but follow the shade with your lounger or go to the pool area as there is plenty of shade there!
Beautifully laid out and easy to walk. Nothing is too far to get to. Beach is easy to walk.
Approx 30 mins from airport on a good day!
This is a family resort and I highly recommend it.
Staff was super friendly and accommodating.
I also did go to 3 adults only RIU in Montego Bay which is approx 10 mins from Airport.
Ask me about those!
