Charities across Niagara will have help supporting individuals affected by COVID-19, thanks to a series of grants from the Niagara Casinos Fund at the Niagara Community Foundation.

The Niagara Casinos Fund is awarding five grants, totaling $41,000, to support charities across Niagara. They include Project SHARE, Niagara Falls Community Outreach, Open Arms Mission, Pathstone Mental Health and Niagara Training & Employment Agency. These organizations are working hard to respond to the increasing need for food security and virtual mental health supports caused by COVID-19.

“Once again, Niagara Casinos have shown their tremendous philanthropic leadership and commitment to the community through these latest distributions from their Niagara Casinos Fund with the Niagara Community Foundation,” shares NCF Executive Director Bryan Rose. “We are proud to continue to partner with Niagara Casinos and know that these funds will have a significant and immediate impact in supporting the work that these charitable organizations do on the ground for the clients they support – especially during these tumultuous economic times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The Niagara Casinos Fund at the Niagara Community Foundation was established in 2002 with a $750,000 gift. Since its inception, the Fund has granted more than $240,000 to charitable organizations across Niagara.

“COVID-19 has impacted those most vulnerable in our communities and we are proud to support these wonderful not-for-profit organizations and the important programs they offer – especially during this critical time,” says Richard Taylor, President, Niagara Casinos. “These funds will assist with the purchase of much needed equipment and resources to sustain programs that will expand access to food and support for those most in need.”

Created in 2000, the Niagara Community Foundation has raised more than $62 million and has granted in excess of $15 million to charities working in the arts, heritage, environment, social services, health, education and community development sectors.
