Central United Church in Welland is looking for a part-time music director to start as soon as possible. This position is a 7-hour a week job that will support the church by leading the church choir and enhancing worship services through a variety of styles of music.

The successful applicant will be a qualified musician who is comfortable working with a variety of music styles. The ability to play organ is an asset. The applicant will have strong interpersonal skills, and they will have capabilities in the following areas: discerning the music skills of church members and empowering them to share their musical gifts; accepting feedback well; evaluating the music program and implementing new ideas.

Regular responsibilities of this position include collaboration with the minister / worship leader and worship committee to select appropriate music for regular worship, holding of regular choir practices, and leading the congregation and choir in learning new music.

Special service responsibilities include extra services for Christmas, Easter, weddings and funerals.

Administrative duties include the overseeing of organization of music and choir materials, the selection and acquisition of music, preparation of an annual budget, maintaining of a safe workplace, and, when required, attendance at meetings.
