While March 8th is recognized as International Women’s Day. All this week, we’re highlighting some great Canadian women!
Emily Howard Jennings Stowe was a suffragist, teacher, and doctor (born 1 May 1831 in Norwich, Ontario; died 30 April 1903 in Toronto, Ontario). The Canadian Women’s Suffrage Association was founded by Stowe. She is regarded as Ontario’s first female doctor to openly practise medicine. She was also Ontario’s first female public school principal.
