The Town of Pelham is asking residents to submit questions via email or traditional post mail regarding this year’s aerial spray program for gypsy moth.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent closures of Town facilities and abilities to host public meetings, emailing questions to gypsymoth@pelham.ca is the most direct way for residents to ask their questions. Residents not utilizing email can mail their questions to 20 Pelham Town Square, PO Box 400, Fonthill, ON, L0S 1E0, attention Jason Marr.
The spray blocks for this year’s program are posted to the Town’s website at www.pelham.ca/gypsy-moth and residents can view the maps and list of addresses to see if they are included.
“Normally, we’d have a public meeting with charts and posters and all the information necessary for residents to formulate their questions about this year’s program and be able to answer them in real time,” said director of public works Jason Marr. “This year, however, is different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re hoping that residents will still reach out to us once they’ve had a chance to review the information on our website and in the newspaper so we can inform them of our plan.”
In the absence of public meetings, the Town will also take out a four-page spread in the Voice of Pelham on April 15, including the spray block maps, frequently asked questions, home control methods and other information regarding this year’s program.
Questions will be compiled into themes and responses will be posted to the Town’s website. Those who submit via post mail are encouraged to provide a return address so that compiled responses can be sent in return. Responses are anticipated to be posted to the Town’s website the week of April 20.
