Equal Voice Foundation (Equal Voice), Canada’s leading multi-partisan organization dedicated to electing and supporting women in politics, is proud to announce the launch of its newest volunteer chapter in the Niagara Region. This expansion reflects Equal Voice’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and representative political landscape by equipping and empowering women to take on leadership roles at all levels of government.
The inaugural meeting of the Equal Voice Niagara Chapter saw the election of Diana Huson and Sharmila Setaram as Co-Chairs. Both bring a wealth of experience and passion for gender equity, political engagement, and community and civic leadership. Under their leadership, the chapter will serve as a vital resource for women and gender diverse individuals aspiring to enter politics, providing mentorship, training, and networking opportunities.
“With the launch of the Niagara Chapter, we are reinforcing Equal Voice’s commitment to breaking down barriers for women in politics,” said Diana Huson, Co-Chair. “Our chapter will be a space where women from diverse backgrounds can connect, learn, and support one another in their political journeys.” Lindsay Brumwell, Interim Executive Director of Equal Voice, expressed her support for the new chapter, stating, “The launch of the Niagara Region Chapter highlights the power of volunteers and grassroots efforts in advancing gender equity in politics. Local leadership and community-informed training and resources are the foundation of real change. We are excited to welcome Diana, Sharmila, and the entire Niagara Region team as they harness the strength of their local network to create meaningful pathways for women in politics.”
