About D.i.D. Fundraising:
Sarah Schulz (@thedissociativerunner) is the runner behind Distance into Donations Fundraising. She teams up with local charities in the Niagara Region to raise funds by matching distance run into monies donated. Each fundraiser lasts 3 weeks with
anywhere from 25-50 miles run per week (weather dependent). Funds raised go directly to the charity being supported.

Sarah Schulz was born and raised in the Niagara Region and has resided there the majority of her adult life. She lives with Dissociative Identity Disorder, the result of complex trauma. Despite this disability, running has helped her stay as regulated
as possible. She came up with the fundraising initiative as a way to give back to the community despite being on a limited income.
Through this initiative, she seeks to:
- promote and support local charities;
- educate the public on Dissociative Disorders through the lens of lived experience;
- empower and advocate for individuals living with disabilities.
The fundraiser takes place online through the Distance into Donations Facebook Group. A link is provided directly to the charity of choice so funds go directly to the not-for-profit organization. Sarah will post on Instagram and FaceBook, the miles that she has completed, with the goal that community members will donate an amount equivalent to her mileage; for example, a 6.2 mile run one day will result in supporters each donating $6.20. Supporters may choose to donate for a single run, a total weekly
mileage (anywhere from 25-50 miles/week), or for the entire distance run for the 3-week duration. It is important that the charity assists with promoting the event via social media to ensure maximum impact and funds raised.
