Important changes in the window covering industry take effect May 1st, 2022. New Government of Canada regulations will restrict the sale of some blinds and window coverings with cords.The new regulations will help prevent death by strangulation in children.

The window covering industry has had a few years to prepare for the new regulations. Although many corded window coverings are no longer available, consumers will have options.

Some blinds and shades do have a cordless option as well as many motorization options. Other products such as shutters will continue to provide both function and beauty while meeting the Government of Canada regulations.
