Pelham Cares is proud to announce they are now accredited under the Food Banks Canada Standards of Excellence program, the first food bank in Niagara to achieve this distinction. The Standards of Excellence program provides a framework for food banks to identify opportunities for innovation and performance improvements in the areas of client service and care, food operations, safe food handling and more. Food Banks Canada works in collaboration with a network of 4,750 food banks and community agencies across Canada to ensure access to safe and nutritious food for anyone who needs it.
With the number of client visits up over 40% vs last year, the challenges of food insecurity in Pelham continue to grow. For 41 years, Pelham Cares has been working to help those in need in our community. “This is a great achievement for our team”, says executive director Gayle Sears. Achieving this accreditation has made us a stronger, more efficient organisation, better able to meet the growing demand for our services.
