The Pelham Beautification Committee sends out a big thank you to everyone who participated in the Pelham Earth Day Clean Up this past Saturday! According to Stephanie Yole, the Town’s project coordinator for the day, there were close to 100 people out cleaning up various areas throughout Pelham. Stephanie commented, “I am pleased with the turn out today as well the volunteers who have been out cleaning up litter the last few days on our trails, parks and in our neighbourhoods.”
The Rotary Club of Fonthill was out in full force cleaning up the storm water management pond at the corner of Highway 20 and Rice Road, as well as the vacant lot between the Meridian Community Centre and McDonalds. Ann Harrison, Rotary Club President, remarked, “the amount of litter that accumulates in these areas is astronomical. We are particularly interested in the pond area due to its significance to the Great Lakes Watershed. This clean up initiative of beaches, streams, etc. that run into the Great Lakes is now in its second year.” Ann further mentioned, “The Rotary Club of Fonthill has been in existence for over 30 years participating in community events with fundraising efforts helping a number of community charities and scholarships.”
Special thanks to the Rotary Club of Fonthill and all those who participated in the Pelham Earth Day Clean Up. We encourage residents to make cleaning up our community a regular occurrence, thereby keeping Pelham a beautiful place to live, work and play year round!
