Pelham residents have an opportunity to participate in free Culture Days activities with a cultural pop-up exhibit and a series of hands-on workshops.
Through a partnership with the Welland Museum, a pop-up exhibit is in place at the Meridian Community Centre. The exhibit features artifacts and memorabilia that reflect the culture and history of the Town of Pelham. Some of the exhibit highlights are a large-scale map of the local area dating back to 1862, local area school items, and artifacts from a local archeology dig. The self-guided exhibit is available until October 28th, visitors attending the exhibit age 12 and up are required to show proof of vaccination to attend.
In addition, several hands-on workshops offering a variety of experiences including clock making, fine art, landscape painting, and drumming are being offered at the community centre. The free workshops aim to connect Niagara area artists and the community through immersive experiences. Residents are required to pre-register for the workshops and all covid-19 safety protocols are in place.
“Having the pop-up exhibit at the community centre is a great addition to Pelham Culture Days,” said Stephanie Yole, culture and community enhancement programmer. “With the combination of the exhibit and the hands-on workshops, it is wonderful to see residents being able to connect with local artists and culture”
