Meet Stacey, Financial Solutions Specialist at PenFinancial Credit Union Welland branch! She’s been with PenFi since November 2021, and has been one of our top #TrulyLocalAmbassadors through her work with Niagara Dog Rescue
In June of 2023, Stacey reached out to Pat at NDR to ask how she could get involved with the limited time she had. “Once I talked to Pat, she said they were in need of people for the admin side of things, which worked perfectly for me, as I could do that at my leisure from home. In the 12 months or so since, I’ve processed the contracts/agreements for 407 dog adoptions, which is just fantastic, as the adopters can then reach back out with updates and pictures of how their new pups are settling in.”
Niagara Dog Rescue was founded in March of 2015, and is a registered non-profit, volunteer-based charitable organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs find a new home. They focus on dogs at immediate risk of being euthanized at high kill shelters. Over 175 volunteers cover everything from transporting dogs from multiple southern US states and Manitoba, to vetting the dogs and adopters, to setting up fundraisers and website management.
This year NDR has found homes for 468 dogs so far, with a total of 9840 since inception in 2015. So far in 2024, Stacey has volunteered over 100 hours of her time with NDR! Currently, NDR is looking for volunteers who can plan and organize events and fundraisers (or to help out on the day of), graphic designers to create posters and advertising for those events, and PR people to promote them. There’s something for everyone, and of course they’re always looking for fosters (we know some of our staff members have done this in the past!
If you’re interested in getting involved with this incredible organization, visit their website for more information (https://hubs.ly/Q02FDdtp0)
A big thank you and congratulations to Stacey for her dedication to Niagara Dog Rescue, and for sharing and promoting the work that they do with all of us here at PenFi! We’re proud to have her as a Truly Local Ambassador!
