The Friends of the Welland Central Fire Hall have launched an exciting initiative to help preserve Welland’s firefighting heritage. On select Saturdays at the Welland Farmers’ Market, supporters can receive a complimentary, high-quality Central Fire Station t-shirt in exchange for a minimum cash donation of $50 to the preservation campaign. These Gildan, 100% cotton t-shirts feature a full-color stencil of the historic Central Fire Station, and each cash-only donation is recorded for tax receipts as part of the group’s “Market Special.”
The campaign officially kicks off on Saturday, November 16th, with Canadian pastry chef Anna Olson, the Honorary Chair of the fundraising initiative, lending her support. Olson will be offering her famous sweet treats in limited quantities to donors and will also be available to sign copies of her book.
The Friends of the Welland Central Fire Hall will be at Market Square on November 16th, 23rd, and 30th, as well as December 7th. Donors are encouraged to visit early, as t-shirt quantities are limited and are expected to be a popular holiday gift. This community-driven campaign presents an opportunity for Welland residents to contribute to the preservation of local history while taking home a unique, wearable piece of Welland’s firefighting legacy.
