The City of Welland is looking to fill nearly 150 seasonal/casual labourer positions for the upcoming year, covering the total costs of necessary training and licences for successful applicants.
Generally geared toward employment over the summer, some positions have opportunities beyond the season. Positions coming available include:
- Lifeguards, senior positions, and swim instructors
- Camp Leaders, senior positions, and programmers
- Empire Sports Coach and camp programmer
- Rec and Culture Ambassadors, including a senior position
- Public Works positions
- Parks positions
- Casual labourers
For many, seasonal employment provides the opportunity to explore areas of interest, gain new skills, and expand work experience.
“It’s not just a summer job,” said Brooke Iannuzzelli, human resources coordinator. “These positions are critical to the success of the goals and objectives of the City of Welland. Our seasonal teams are always full of life and energy, and we look forward to investing in their future this summer.”
In addition to the positions available, the City of Welland provides training and certifications to cover food handling, pleasure craft operator card, CPR/First Aid, and work to assist in lifeguard and instructor certifications. This allows applicants without the required credentials to apply, knowing the City will provide them with the tools to succeed.
Assisting applicants with these licences and training is another way the City invests in its employees.
Seasonal recruitment opens on December 19, and all available positions will be posted on the City’s website at https://www.welland.ca/Employment/index.asp.
