The number of families depending on food banks to feed them has grown exponentially due to COVID-19. Recognizing the need in the local communities that they serve the real estate agents at Remax Welland Realty Ltd teamed up to do a large group donation of groceries to restock the shelves at The Hope Centre, Port Cares and Pelham Cares.
RE/MAX Welland Broker/Owners Brian Simmons and Bill Berkhout contacted the three agencies and asked them to provide a shopping list of their most needed items. Brian then reached out to Food Basics in Welland to make arrangements for a bulk purchase and the local grocery store helped stretch the impact of the donation by providing the groceries at wholesale prices.
A group of the RE/MAX Agents who had trucks or SUV’s were assigned the task of picking up the supplies at Food Basics and delivering the groceries to the three local Food Banks – The Hope Centre (in April) and Port Cares and Pelham Cares on Friday May 29th.
“RE/MAX is committed to making a difference in the communities that we serve” explains Brian Simmons.
“In fact, our Regional Franchise group -RE/MAX Integra- has launched a corporate campaign ‘RE/STOCK with RE/MAX’ to raise funds to restock the pantries of hundreds of food banks across Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
We are all happy work together and do what we can to give back.”
