Toronto-based singer/songwriter POESY has written, produced and recorded a song and music video called ‘Steel Heart’, which will serve as the anthem of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games
November 5, 2021 (Niagara, Ont.) — The Niagara 2022 Host Society and Toronto-based singer/songwriter POESY are thrilled to announce the release of ‘Steel Heart’ — the anthem of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games and its accompanying music video. ‘Steel Heart’, which is a song written, produced and recorded by POESY, aims to inspire Games’ athletes and others to keep pursuing their dreams.
POESY will perform ‘Steel Heart’ at the Games’ Opening Ceremony on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, as well as the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls. POESY will also take part in a 200-Day-Out celebration concert on January 20, 2022, at the Meridian Centre alongside three other performers who will be announced in the coming weeks.
POESY is the solo project of singer/songwriter/pianist Sarah Botelho. Since being discovered on the first season of the hit Canadian music show THE LAUNCH, POESY has accrued over two million catalogue streams and is currently working with standout British music producer Stephen Lipson, who has previously worked with the likes of Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox, and Hans Zimmer.
POESY’s latest release, ‘Steel Heart’, is now available for consumption on all major music providers, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Vevo, Tidal, Deezer, Pandora, Napster and more.
“I am honoured to have not only created a song that will be the anthem to the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, but also to be afforded the opportunity to perform it live at the Games’ Opening and Closing Ceremonies,” said POESY. “Steel Heart is meant to serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes, artists, and more to always persevere in the pursuit of their dreams. I’m excited to finally be sharing this song and its music video, which was also an absolute dream to make. Not only did I get to wear a full on princess gown and have fireworks on set — I got to meet some amazing young athletes from our country.”
“We are extremely excited that our Games’ anthem has been created and performed by such an incredibly talented Canadian artist,” added Doug Hamilton, Board Chair of the Niagara 2022 Host Society. “In Steel Heart, POESY truly captures the spirit of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, and embodies in many ways the journey that the athletes competing in the Games will experience.”
The ‘Steel Heart’ music video was filmed in various parts of Niagara, including Glenridge Quarry, Niagara Shores Park, and Charles Daley Park. It also stars a diverse cast of young athletes from the Niagara Region. About POESY
POESY is the solo project of Toronto-based singer/songwriter/pianist Sarah Botelho. POESY was initially discovered after she appeared on the first season of hit Canadian music show, THE LAUNCH. Her performance captivated the judges and the hearts of millions across the country and her incredible breakout performance landed POESY a major label deal with Big Machine Records. Met with an incredible reception, her debut single “Soldier Of Love” rapidly climbed the ranks of Canada’s music charts – debuting at #1 on the iTunes All Genres chart and landing in the Billboard Top 40.
Ready for her next musical statement, POESY enlisted the help of UK producer Stephen Lipson (Billie Eilish, Annie Lennox, Hans Zimmer) to compile the next batch of songs that effortlessly set her apart from the pack. Along with a commission to write the anthem of the 2022 Canada Games and a nod from Canada with full FACTOR grant funding POESY is poised to carve out a lane all her own.
