What a year 2020 is turning out to be! There are so many changes to get used to: work changes, daily living changes, family functions all under the ‘new normal’ way of living – at least for now. The Welland Museum staff and Board of Directors have been working diligently over the past few months to keep our community up to date during these uncertain times. I’d like to say a special thank you to the great team here at the Museum who have been working hard behind the scenes and made it possible to stay in touch with all of you. You will hear more about the team in an upcoming newsletter.
As the Manager and Curator of the Welland Museum, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your continued support during these past months. It has been wonderful to pull out photos and artifacts from the collection to share with the community in a new way. I hope we have, in at least some small way, provided a welcome respite from everything COVID-19 related going on around us. Please continue to share your thoughts with us as we love to hear from you!
While we miss all of you and being able to visit in person, we know the changes to the Museum will be a welcome surprise once we can all be back together safely. While it looks like this ‘new normal’ will be with us for a while yet, Welland has proven time and time again it has some of the most caring folks around, so let’s help each other get through this together.
As we wait for renovations to be completed and finalize our reopening plan, please follow our Facebook page for details on upcoming programs and lectures, as well as amazing photographs from our collection. There are some really fun and interesting talks coming up to take us into the fall season and stay tuned for more information on some ‘spirited’ online talks in October. We are looking forward to bringing you new exhibits when we reopen in the late fall. The last few months have been tough and we appreciate all of the support from our members and donors. If you’re not yet a Museum member, please consider becoming one, or visit our Canada Helps page to donate.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Stay well and, remember, we can’t do this without YOU!
