The defending Intercounty Baseball League Dominico Cup champion Welland Jackfish continue to reshape their roster for next season with the signing of Greyson Barrett.
The 23-year-old Barrett is fresh off a monster season with Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth where he was named an NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) All-American after putting up some big numbers.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound first baseman/outfielder compiled a .415 batting average with 20 home runs, 88 RBI and a 1.278 OPS in 200 collegiate at-bats in 2023.
He was named the 2023 Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Year while also earning a conference Gold Glove award for his defensive play in left field.
“Greyson brings a big bat and is equally as good defensively. This will deepen an already loaded lineup and make an impact in the IBL,” Jackfish general manager Jason McKay said. “He has a big presence whose best days are still ahead. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in the IBL.”
In 509 at bats over three college seasons at Texas Wesleyan, the dual US/Canadian citizen had 82 extra-base hits including 43 home runs with 180 RBIs, a .356 batting average and 1.103 OPS.
