The Welland Jackfish have signed former Colorado Rockies prospect Luis Jean for the 2023 season.

Jean, a native of Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, joins the Fish following his first IBL season in 2022 with the Hamilton Cardinals. In 29 games played, Luis amassed a .336 average with two doubles, two triples, a home run and nine runs batted in.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Luis join the Fish,” Jackfish general manager Jason McKay said. “He brings years of high-level professional experience and next-level defence along with a very dangerous bat at the top end of our lineup.”

Before coming to the Intercounty League, Luis spent six years in the Rockies organization, reaching as high as AA with the Hartford Yard Goats.
