The popular Pelham Art Festival, held annually every Mother’s Day Weekend in May, moves online for 2021 to include an impressive number of local artists and artists from all over Ontario displaying and selling their work. After careful consideration, due to the ongoing unpredictability of COVID -19, keeping the safety of our patrons, artists and the community as our priority, we will be holding the traditional Pelham Art Festival in a virtual online format this year.
In addition, the Pelham Art Festival will be extended from May 1 to May 15, 2021. We invite the community and art lovers to continue to enjoy and purchase original art so that the fundraising efforts for the Pelham Library System, Pelham Arts Scholarships and community art projects can proceed.
“When the 2020 Festival was cancelled due to the pandemic, we fully expected to be back for an in-person show in 2021. However, such a large event no longer seems possible, plans are being finalized for Pelham Art Festival Online. Many people are using virtual opportunities in ways we would never have anticipated, we are excited to offer this platform to our artists and community,” explains Festival Chairman Heidi TeBrake.
This year we expect over 50 juried artists to present their work Online. We invite you to follow our regular Pelham Art Festival Facebook and Instagram posts showcasing the work of each artist on social media.
We invite you to check out our website at www.pelhamartfestival.com to see the work of artists who are registered with the Pelham Art Festival. Please watch for more exciting updates as we approach May 2021.
Festival proceeds benefit the Pelham libraries, provides annual scholarships to graduating Pelham students pursuing studies in fine arts from E.L. Crossley Secondary School, Notre Dame College School, to Pelham students enrolled in the Art and Design Program at Niagara College, and the festival supports various community arts projects. The Pelham Art Festival show and sale has proudly donated over $448,000 back to the community.
