Centre Street Pickleball Club (CSPC) held its official Welcome Social on Saturday, November 9 with over half of its new members in attendance.
James Fraser, affectionately called “The Godfather”, welcomed everyone with an update on club status, boasting of 85 members in just over a month since opening its doors. CSPC will be operating as a division of Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association (NIPA), a non-profit organization run entirely by member volunteers.
Volunteers had a great time decorating one of the classrooms for the event to express the Club’s culture as a fun, social, welcoming place. Blackboards were adorned with popular pickleball phrases, bulletin boards covered with pickleball-related jokes and members brought plenty of goodies for all to enjoy.
There are two indoor courts at the facility, with a stage where players can rest and watch games during down time. The Club offers various levels of play, private court rentals for members, “Intro to pickleball” lessons and social events. In addition, James personally leads several weekly “skills and drills” to build more interest and attract new players to the sport.
“My mission to make pickleball more accessible, fun and affordable for pickleball enthusiasts,” said James, with a smile on his face.
The Club is located in Concordia Academy at 1165 Centre Street in Fenwick. For more information or to join, contact Marlene Campbell at marlene_campbell@hotmail.com.
