Earth Day is the perfect time to give back to the environment, and the City of Welland is making it easy by offering free trees to residents. This annual tree giveaway provides an opportunity to bring more greenery to the community while celebrating sustainability.
Residents can choose from six different tree species, with pickup dates scheduled at the Welland Farmers’ Market.
Pickup Dates and Tree Species:
- Saturday, April 12: Red Maple, White Pine, Tulip Tree
- Saturday, April 19: Sugar Maple, White Spruce, Redbud Tree
- Time: 8 a.m. to noon
- Location: Welland Market Square
Any unclaimed trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on April 19 at noon.
To participate, you must be a Welland resident and provide identification showing the name and address used for registration. Only one tree is available per address, and quantities are limited. Duplicate orders will result in cancellation.
How to Register:
- Online registration begins March 31 at 9 a.m. at welland.ca
- In-person registration starts April 1 at 9 a.m. at the Welland Community Centre, 145 Lincoln Street
There is no cost to register, and no account creation is required. This initiative is a great way to contribute to the city’s green spaces and make a lasting impact on the local environment.
