Mark your calendars for November 25 at 10:00 AM as Welland hosts its flag raising at City Hall in support of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This annual international campaign runs from November 25 (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day).
The flag raising is a powerful show of solidarity and a call to action for the elimination of gender-based violence.
In addition, please join us for the acknowledgement lighting at Welland Bridge #13 at dusk on November 25.
During the 16 Days of Activism, be sure to visit one of the REDress installations throughout our communities, displayed by CFUW Welland and District and the Niagara Native Friendship Centre. These installations honor the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirited People (MMIWG2S+). The installations are located at:
- Pelham: Meridian Centre (inside and outside) and Ridgeville
- Welland: Welland City Hall, Chippawa Park, Woodlawn Rd at Niagara College, and the Welland Y (inside)
- Wainfleet: Municipal Office and Library
- Port Colborne: Downtown and at the Library (inside and out)
- Niagara Regional Headquarters
Let’s unite for change, raise our voices, and stand against gender-based violence. Together, we can make a difference.
