Explore the opportunity to work with 3 talented artists in 2 different genres. Mixed media with Pat Haftar and Robbin Pulver Andrews explores the freedom of mixing different medias with materials to create one-of-a kind expressions in art. Oil painting with Linda Sorensen offers the experience of plein air painting with her unique style and techniques.
Mixed Media instructor Patricia Haftar works in acrylic, watercolour & mixed media/collage. Pat’s love of colour, movement, pattern, line and texture can easily be identified in each piece of her work. Patricia studied commercial art in high school and continued her art education through workshops and classes with renowned Canadian and American artists, including Margret Martin, Denise Sperry, Jane E. Jones, James Kerr, Tony Batton, & John Leonard. Patricia has been juried First in show several times. Her work has been covered by major media. She is currently being represented by Art Space Gallery 106 in Niagara on the Lake, Frame Craft St. Catharines, and Capitol Arts Market Simcoe. Pats work can be found in corporations and private homes across North America and Europe. Pat is an Art Instructor for the Niagara Pumphouse, Niagara Art Gallery, Port Colborne Art Association, Capitol Arts Market. As well, Pat opens her studio to students during the week. Mixed Media instructor Robbin Pulver-Andrews is an Acrylic-Encaustic-Mixed Media Artist living in Simcoe Ontario. Robbin originally graduated from Sheridan College from Classical Animation , and over the years has studied many more Fine Arts Classes. She has been painting and showing her artwork at various shows and galleries since 2008 with a great response to her work. In 2015 Robbin was Artist in Residence for a month At Palazzo Rinaldi in Noepoli Italy. Robbin has been teaching art classes for many years, and thoroughly enjoys this part of her art career. She is inspired very much by old buildings, everyday items, and natural settings, and loves bringing them to life in her paintings. Robbin is a member of the Women’s Art Association of Hamilton and belongs to a wonderful group of artists that share a gallery space, Capitol Arts Market, in downtown Simcoe. Instagram: robbinsart100
Oil Painting Instructor Linda Sorensen is a prolific award-winning professional artist for almost 25 years. Linda’s work reflects her passion for wilderness and wildlife which speaks vibrantly as an advocate for nature. She paints on site in all seasons in oils. Linda is an elected member of Society of Canadian Artists and Artists for Conservation. She belongs as a member to East Central Ontario Artists Association. She is also a member of Wild Women, one of three women artists who paint the wilderness. The hardcover book, Wild Women Painters of the Wilderness was published. This retreat is open to 12 participants. As a group you will spend 2 full days on oil painting and 2 full days on mixed media. At the end of the week, you will have the opportunity to spend an additional morning with either session instructor to finish up any of your projects.

Wednesday– Day off for everyone.
We will offer pontoon boat rides depending on weather, I will also be offering some sunset cruises to be sure everyone who wants to can go out on the boat as last year the weather got us on our days off.
Thursday– Mixed Media with Robbin & Pat
Start time 9:00 am break for lunch from 12:00-1:00 pm (lunch provided) resume – 1:00-4:00.
Friday– From 9-12:30 all participants can work with any instructor to finish up any projects. We will have a pot luck lunch followed by a show and tell and critique until 2:30 ish.
We will gather for a farewell fire around 7 or 8 pm.
Saturday– Home day
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday a simple lunch will be provided for all participants. If you have any allergies or food issues we would ask you to please prepare your own lunch. Lunch will consist of assorted sandwiches, salads, cheese, pickle and veggie tray. Water, tea and coffee will be available each day of instruction.
Tuesday evening we will plan an optional group dinner outing at a local restaurant. Each participant will be responsible for buying their own dinner.
All the cottages have fully equipt kitchens and participants will be responsible for their own meals not covered in the schedule. The resort offers canoes, paddleboat and kayaks which will be available to participants at no additional cost. We also offer 2 aluminum motorboats for rent per hour or per day. Gas extra. Lifejackets provided.
Every participant will be sharing a cottage with other participants. If you are coming to the retreat with a friend/s we will work to have you in the same cottage. if you have more friends that wish to be in the same cottage all of the cottages below have more sleeping availability than listed, in the sitting room. You are welcome to bring family members who will not be participating in the classes but as space is limited your cost will be determined by how may spots are taken in the cottage chosen. We have 2 cottages that are suitable for couples that have 1 participating person.

Regarding Covid- We will follow any and all protocols the government of Canada sets forth for hospitality and group settings. Every effort will be made to ensure that anyone attending is kept safe. If you have any preferences or concerns about who you may be housed with please let us know during the booking process. If you have any symptoms before arrival please let us know so we may determine any actions necessary including staying home.
Full Materials list will be provided to participants upon registration completion. Most of the Mixed Media materials will be included with registration. Some oil paints colors will be included and some will be available for purchase at the retreat. If you have your own please bring them. You will need to bring your own canvases for both projects.
We are asking for a $200.00 deposit per participant at the time of registration. The remainder of the fee is payable by August 28, 2022. Refunds granted for deposit and / or full registration due to Covid cancellation or if we can fill your vacancy.
