On August 17, 2021, over seventy (70) golfers will participate in the Niagara Golf Marathon (NGM) and golf 100 holes in a day, all in support of four Niagara charities. NGM enters its twelfth year and will take place at Royal Niagara Golf Club in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The proceeds from the event will support Pathstone Foundation, Wellspring Niagara, Community Care and Niagara Health Foundation. The NGM has raised over $500,000 since its inaugural event in 2010. This year, the event organizers set out to break their record and raise over $100,000 in one year. Not only have they broken their record, but thanks to the generosity of the golfers, donors, and sponsors, they have so far raised over $140,000. For the first time, the Niagara Cycling Marathon was added as an event for community members that wanted to support but not golf. Taking place the day before the Golf Marathon, the cycling fundraiser has eighteen (18) participants so far who have raised over $20,000.
“We are very excited for this year’s events. We always knew that the Golf Marathon community could raise over $100,000, and we have done it this year! It’s our golfers and riders who do all the hard work. We want to send a huge thank you to our participants, donors and sponsors.” Chris Sinclair, Co-Chair – Niagara Golf Marathon.
The event is supported by several corporate partners; Alectra, Rankin Construction, Mountainview Homes, Brand Blvd, BMO, Sun Life, Fleet Beccario, Green Lion Marketing, Kully’s Original, Meridan, MNP, The Mortgage Centre, Niagara Insurance Brokers, Foodland, RBC Bosak Wealth Management, and Kaneff Golf.
“Community Care has been a grateful recipient of funds generated by the Niagara Golf Marathon for several years. These funds have given us the ability to enhance our warehouse and service delivery which has benefitted countless members in our community who struggle to make ends meet. We fondly refer to the golfers who play “100 holes of golf” in one day as our “Warehouse Warriors.” Betty-Lou Souter, Chief Executive Officer – Community Care, St. Catharines & Thorold
“The Niagara Health Foundation is excited to be part of the Niagara Golf Marathon again. It has been incredible to watch the community and local charities rally around this event. The funds raised this year will support the purchase and upgrade of Endoscopy equipment at Niagara Health. This equipment helps reduce risk during surgery and the recovery time of patients after surgery. The funds raised will help our patients have better outcomes and healthcare journeys at Niagara Health.” Andrea Scott, President & CEO – Niagara Health Foundation
“Wellspring Niagara is grateful to be one of the Niagara’s charities benefiting from this year’s Niagara Golf Marathon. As Niagara’s only cancer support centre that relies solely on the support of the community it serves, the proceeds received from this will help Wellspring continue to be a place of hope and healing for men, women and children who are living with cancer in our community. Your support will make a difference and help those who are impacted by cancer improve their sense of well-being and quality of life.” Ann Mantini-Celima, Executive Director – Wellspring Niagara
“This year, funds raised through NGM will help take kids off of the waitlist. Pathstone’s Brief Services program, defined as six sessions or less of mental health support, is currently carrying a waitlist of 241 kids. Pre-pandemic, there was no delay to enter this program. We need to get kids into care and out of line.” Kim Rossi, Director of Philanthropy, Pathstone FoundationTo learn more about the Niagara Golf Marathon, please visit www.NiagaraGolfMarathon.com.
