We are pleased to share with you that our 2025 Environmental Grant applications are now OPEN for submission. NCF’s Environmental Grant program is a flexible and responsive grant focusing on bringing partners together in our community to create a collaborative approach to meeting the environmental challenges we are facing.
This grant program supports rural and urban environment projects and we invite charities, municipalities, environmental stewardship groups, volunteer groups and youth led initiatives that meet the eligibility requirements to apply.
Applications are due Monday, January 27, 2025 at noon.
All applicants are required to have a grant consult with our Director of Grants & Community Initiatives, JoAnne Krick, a minimum of seven days before the application deadline. Please email JoAnne at your earliest convenience to set up a time to chat.

Grant Making Priorities
OPTION 1: Retain, reclaim and limit human impact on environmentally sensitive areas. May include:
- Protect, restore and enhance environmental integrity of the shorelines
- Protect and/or improve the water of Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and related tributaries
- Protect, restore and enhance aquatic habitats for fish and wildlife
- Establish and/or enhance rural and urban space, tree planting/urban canopies which are linked to water quality
- Provide education and awareness of the above listed priorities
- Protect, restore and enhance environmental integrity of features in our natural heritage system to build resiliency
- Protect, restore and enhance wildlife habitat areas and corridors
- Establish/enhance/restore natural heritage system and the removal of invasive species
OPTION 2: Support “Life Cycle Cost” assessment (environmental and economic) of government and industrial policies and practices.
Eligibility Requirements
- All applicants must be either a registered charity or a qualified donee to apply
- Only one application per organization will be accepted for each grant program
- All applicants must meet the minimum requirements of the Governance Checklist
- All applicants must have a grant consult with JoAnne Krick, 7 days prior to applying
