Ensuring the safety of voters and election staff and the ability for those affected by COVID-19 to cast a ballot , the Town of Pelham is offering a vote by mail option for the September 15, 2020, by-election.
On-demand ballots are available to those voters who are in isolation or self-quarantine, cannot leave their residence to vote because they have been in close contact with a positive COVID-19 case, are awaiting test results, or live with someone who has tested positive.
To receive the special ballot kit via Canada Post, voters must register between August 4 and August 24, 2020. Special Provisions will also be made on a case-by-case basis between August 24 up to and including September 11, 2020. For more information on special provisions, contact Town Clerk Nancy Bozzato at 905-892-2607 x315 or njbozzato@pelham.ca
The on-demand ballot provides voters with the ability to complete their ballot at home and submit in a secrecy envelope via Canada Post. Alternatively, a friend or relative can drop off the secrecy envelope with a completed ballot in the ballot drop box located at Town Hall or the Maple Acre Library during operating hours. Town Hall is open from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. by appointment only. Visit the Libary’s website for hours of operation.
