We are excited to announce the winner of the Niagara Health Lottery was Welland Site EVS staff member Jim Mate and 11 of his co-workers.  Jim purchased the tickets on behalf of the group, and collectively they won $148,975!

When we called Jim to let him know he won, his response was, “Are you serious?” Once the news sunk in, he said, “I am shaking, I can’t believe this….that’s amazing, I can’t believe this.  I have a lot of people to tell that we won!”  That when Jim told us that he had purchased the tickets on behalf of 11 of his fellow Niagara Health EVS colleagues at the Welland Site.

We were able to get the winners together for a picture outside of the Welland Hospital yesterday!   As we wrapped up handing over the cheque, these incredible winners each made a donation to The Hope Centre in Welland. Maybe it was serendipity, maybe it was pure luck, but we hope this story fills your heart as it did ours with 12 front-line workers from Niagara Health as our winners this time around!

Between March 1st and April 8th, Ontario residents could purchase a Niagara Health Lottery 50/50 ticket at www.niagarahealthlottery.com. On March 18th, five prizes of $1,000 were awarded to “early-bird” winners: Jennifer Tait, Lynn Elcomb, Carol Colangelo, Dawn Breault and Janice Durand. Desjardins Credit Union was the title sponsor of the April lottery and will be the title sponsor for the next two draws. The Foundation will be running the Niagara Health Lottery three times a year: July, October and March.
