The Town of Pelham is expanding seminars and workshops for seniors in Pelham with the launch of the 55+ Seminar Series.
The series was developed to offer up-to-date information on topics geared specifically for those aged 55 + in Pelham. Speakers, workshops, and seminars will be offered initially in a hybrid format to combine virtual content and an in-person element offered at the Meridian Community Centre (MCC). The hybrid approach to the series allows for both virtual and in-person presenters and participants. Pelham residents will be able to participate in the series either virtually from home or with others at the MCC.
“It is wonderful to be able to provide such a unique way for those who are 55+ to stay connected,” said Brittany MacLean, Town of Pelham active living programmer. ”Being able to access an expanded list of speakers in a hybrid format, opens new opportunities for Pelham residents to participate.”
Upcoming seminars in 2022 include; A “Sleep 101” topic will be presented by the Health Depot on January 21st, and on February 8th a fraud webinar designed to cover “Preparing your Financial Umbrella” will be presented by the Ontario Securities Commission. Additional speakers are from a variety of different backgrounds and are being continually added.
Residents can register and access an up to date listing of all 55+ Seminar Series dates and topics by visiting www.pelham.ca/55 or contacting Brittany MacLean, at 905-732-7882.
In-person elements of the hybrid series will require participants to provide government issued ID and proof of vaccination for entry into the Meridian Community Centre. The MCC is a designated Seniors Active Living Centre which provides additional physical activity programming and volunteer opportunities specific to those 55+.
