The Rotary Club of Fonthill was pleased to present a cheque for $1500 to the Niagara Team of Therapeutic Paws of Canada. The Club receives and reviews financial requests from local agencies and organizations twice yearly and is pleased to review these applications and support groups whose work aligns with Rotary goals. Therapeutic Paws Canada has a mission to “enhance the quality of life and health through the animal/human bond”.
Therapeutic Paws is a registered charity offering free therapy pet visitations. Rosemary Jellinck, the Team Leader for Therapeutic Paws, Niagara coordinated a demonstration of several Therapy dogs at the Rotary Club of Fonthill’s recent Family Farmfest at White Meadows Farm. Rosemary had been a guest speaker at a winter Rotary Club meeting and had explained the process of evaluating a dog with a suitable temperament with its owner to provide the numerous programs for seniors, youth, individuals in care, first responders and others in need of the calming influence of a pet.
The donation will help support the Niagara Team of Therapeutic Paws of Canada to purchase a new tent to provide shade for the dogs when they visit local communities.
