In consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Ontario government has released its Roadmap to Reopen, The plan is a three-step plan to safely and cautiously reopen the Province and gradually lift public health measures based on the province-wide vaccination rate and improvements in key public health and health care indicators.
In response to recent improvements to these indicators, Ontario will allow more outdoor recreational amenities to reopen, with restrictions in place, effective May 22, 2021, at 12:01 a.m.
In the Town of Pelham, that means that tennis courts, the skatepark, golf courses, and sports fields, among other amenities, will reopen for use.
These outdoor areas are not cleaned or sanitized, and users should continue to maintain two metres of distance at all times and wash or sanitize their hands after use. The Province has also determined that outdoor limits for social gatherings and organized public events will expand to five people.
No outdoor team sports or recreational classes are permitted at this time.
The current emergency order remains in effect until June 2, and residents are asked to leave their homes only for essential purposes during this time.
