The Niagara District Council of Women Public Meeting
January 18, 2023 @ 7:30 pm
On Wednesday January 18, 2023 the Niagara District Council of Women will hold a public ZOOM meeting on the topic of
Mental Health in the Workplace presented by Dr. Oyedeji Ayonrinde, Associate Professor at Queen’s University, School of Medicine.
As we continue to live with the realities of Covid-19 within our communities, the challenges of coping with changing social, familial and workplace demands are exposing some serious stresses on people’s mental health. This stress in turn is being reflected daily in the workplace.
When it comes to the workplace, according to Dr. Ayonrinde, Associate Professor of both Psychiatry and Psychology at Queen’s University,” The mental wellness of employees (and their families) is pivotal to workplace productivity across all sectors. He believes the ability of the leadership of organizations to adapt to mental health pressures within their workplace may ultimately translate into the health and viability of the organization. Poor staff retention, sickness absence, burnout and conflict with management has been magnified by the extended disruption of the pandemic. Hardly anyone is spared of this domino effect.”
Dr. Ayonrinde, brings his experience in the areas of Psychiatry and Community Mental Health both in the UK and in Canada to this timely presentation on Mental Health in the Workplace. Widely sought after for his expertise, Dr. Ayonrinde has acted in consultation, training and advisory roles in several countries including Australia and the U.S. As a researcher, clinician and educator, he has been the recipient of several honours and awards.
Join the Niagara District Council of Women on January 18, at 7:30 p.m. for an informed and thought provoking presentation on a topic that is of concern to employees and both large and small organizations, in the private and public sectors.
