September was another busy meeting at Regional Council. Each month I’ve tried to highlight three things on the agenda that may stand out as something that may be of interest to residents. However, each month there’s always a multitude of items covered by each standing committee that is ratified at Council, in addition to items that are brought direct to the meeting for approval.
This month we received and approved the following:
1) Our Planning and Economic Development Committee received information on the ports in Niagara and the Thorold Multimodal hub as an important site for supporting Canadian industry. We also received an updated report on Niagara’s agricultural profile.
2) A motion on declaring intimate partner violence an epidemic.
3) A motion on a proposed citizens code of conduct which will need further information in order to determine an applicable policy.
