16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign in Niagara
November 25 @ 12:00 am - December 10 @ 12:00 am
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign dedicated to preventing and eliminating gender-based violence worldwide. The initiative begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and concludes on December 10, Human Rights Day. Originating from the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991, it is now one of the largest and most impactful global campaigns for raising awareness and inspiring change.
In Canada, the 16 Days includes the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on December 6. On this day, we reflect on the tragic École Polytechnique massacre, when 14 women were murdered simply for being women. This day serves as a solemn reminder of the devastating impacts of gender-based violence and anti-feminist sentiments.
