Residents are asked to avoid parking on streets and keep roadways clear so that sweepers can make their regular passes.
When: May 1, 2023, to May 19, 2023, Monday through Friday. In the event of heavy rains, the schedule may also include weekend work to accommodate.
Where: Sweepers will move systematically through the Town roadway network.
What: Sweepers will make two passes down each roadway with the mechanical sweeper and then a second pass with the vacuum sweeper for the finer debris and material. Residents will see delays between passes as sweepers must empty their hoppers and refill with water before returning to complete the street. If the sweeper has had to maneuver around a parked car, the operator will attempt to return to the area later to complete the roadway.
Why: Public safety is a primary concern, and street sweeping lessens the opportunity for skids and collisions. Regular street sweeping also reduces the likelihood of pollutants making it into our stormwater systems and harming fish or wildlife. It also reduces the chances of flooding in heavy rainfall as it helps keep the gutters and drains clear.
