Welland Transit is welcoming anyone who is serving or has served in the Canadian military Services to ride free of charge on Remembrance Day, Nov. 11, 2020. Welland Transit initiated the Ride For Free Remembrance Day gesture four years ago to pay respect to all men and women who have served or are serving in the Canadian military.
On Remembrance Day, anyone in the Canadian military service can inform Welland or Niagara Bus Operators of their military status as they board the bus, and ride all day on Welland Transit or Niagara Region Transit for free.
“On Remembrance Day, we honour and thank all the brave men and women who serve or have served in the Canadian military,” said Mayor Frank Campion. “As a small token of gratitude and appreciation for your personal sacrifice and commitment to our country, we are pleased to provide the Ride for Free program to the men and women of the Canadian military.”
“Our Operators are pleased to offer the Ride For Free program to our members of military service,” said Dave Stuart, Transit Manager. “Gestures such as these keep staff engaged with the community and create a culture of social responsibility within our division.”
