Welland Minor Baseball today announced a partnership with the Welland Jackfish, a member of the IBL, Canada’s top baseball league.
WMBA will change the name of its rep teams from the Mustangs to the “Junior Jackfish” before the start of their 2022 season, and don new uniforms with the official Junior Jackfish logo.
This partnership stemmed from conversations this off season with WMBA President Bill Bouck, and Jackfish President and Director of Fun, Ryan Harrison.
“We have enjoyed immersing in the youth baseball scene in Welland and the Niagara Region these past three years,” said Jackfish President and Director of Fun Ryan Harrison. “We are so excited to help build youth baseball in Welland and cannot wait to get started on infusing Jackfish fun into Welland youth baseball.”
WMBA currently fields teams in the Baseball Ontario Rep program along with a over 300 participant house league program for youth ages 4-18.
“WMBA is excited to become a community partner with the Welland Jackfish” said WMBA President Bill Bouck. “As the Junior Jackfish, we can continue to strengthen the baseball community in Welland, developing our youth while fostering a love for the game of baseball. This opportunity allows our players to become a part of Welland’s hottest and fastest growing sport. Through this partnership we look forward to continuing to grow our association and welcome the Welland Jackfish into our baseball community. We’re excited for the upcoming season, watching our Junior Jackfish take the field in 2022!”
