Niagara Health Foundation is pleased to announce the winner of the most recent Niagara Health 50/50 Lottery powered by Desjardins. The lucky ticket number NH-1629412 and winner of $78,780 is St. Catharines resident, Gloria Lawson.  The Niagara Health Foundation has awarded $347,915 in cash prizes through the Niagara Health 50/50 Lottery since the program began in spring of 2020.

The Foundation called Gloria to tell her the wonderful news. “Oh my goodness, oh my goodness” were the first words out of Gloria’s mouth. “I can’t believe this… Thank you, thank you, thank you!”  Gloria brought her grandchildren along with her partner to pick up the cheque.  When she was asked what they were going to do with the funds, she told us, “We are meeting with our financial advisor this week.” She then laughed and said, “We are going to wait a bit then take our dream vacation; we want to go to Iceland!”

Gloria has a unique connection with Niagara Health. She has two nieces that both work for the hospital. Gloria is an avid supporter of local charities, lotteries and draws and told us that until now, she had only ever won a gym bag.

All proceeds from the online 50/50 raffle will support the purchase of urgently needed patient-care equipment across Niagara Health.

The Foundation raises and stewards funds exclusively for Niagara Health and brings people across the region together for a single purpose – to help our local hospitals and their healthcare teams deliver the best possible healthcare right here in Niagara.

Between July 27th and August 26th, Ontario residents could purchase a Niagara Health Lottery 50/50 ticket atwww.niagarahealthlottery.com. Desjardins Credit Union sponsored five “early bird” prizes of $1000 each.  The winners were Deborah Meehan, Donald Cook, Sannia Mian, Bianca Collings, and Deanne Dignard. The Foundation will be running its next Niagara Health 50/50 Lottery in October 2021.
