Went for a walk in the rose garden yesterday.
Not just any rose garden. The Joseph L. Mocsan memorial rose garden in Chippawa Park.
The roses are in full bloom, just in time for the city’s Rose Festival weekend.
It’s worth a visit to the garden, even though some of the beds are overrun with weeds. This isn’t meant as a criticism of the city’s parks staff who look after the beds, summer after summer, year after year, with tender loving care. But it goes to show how busy they are with other outdoor work that commands their attention as well. Keep up your great work, here and elsewhere in our city!
So good to see the city’s official rose, the City of Welland, showing off its vibrant colours. It’s one of the roses pictured above…..can you spot it?
If you have some free time in the next few days, visit the park and walk through the rose garden. It’s a fitting thing to do, especially since it’s Rose Festival weekend. I ‘rose’ to the occasion, how about you?
